I knew from the second Bella was born that I was meant to be her father. Over the last 16 years, I've done many things right & even more things wrong. I missed so many events, dance recitals, etc. On social media, we of course, always share the good things, but fatherhood is also frustrating & painful, & I know I have failed Bella when she has needed me the most. As a father, we will all have our moments of failure & success, but the most important part of failing & succeeding as a father is to always be there no matter what. Fatherhood bridges the lines between parenthood & friendship & I have learned that finding that perfect balance is what can make the world of difference in our relationship with our children. To all the fathers out there, whether you think you are doing a bad or good job, being present & available is the key. Be patient, understanding, loving, caring & really try not to lose your s&*t. I have many times, & I regret every single time I lost it. For the last 16 years, I have experienced both some of my greatest joys and my deepest regret. I often have questioned whether I have been a good father or not. I may have not been a perfect dad & my daughter may have not been the perfect daughter but our imperfections are what can offer us the opportunities for growth.A picture says a thousand words & these say that Bella is a strong, beautiful young woman who respects herself, is a straight A student and dual enrolled in college, takes care of her health & fitness, works two jobs, helps with Palestinian Hustle, dances for her school, manages to spend quality time with her friends & family, has a big heart, is responsible, cautious, is my best friend & most importantly, my daughter. To all the fathers out there who need to hear this, respect your daughters & be patient w/ them. Trust your daughters to have the same freedoms as your sons. Most importantly, always be available without judgment & always be present. Happy early Father's day to all the Fathers out there. And to my Bella, I am sorry for all the times I've failed you,& I promise I will keep showing up every day to do better. Thank you for allowing me to be your Baba #fatherhood #daughter

I remember the first day I walked through the old

I remember the first day I walked through the old city as a child. I immediately fell in love with the energy, sounds, smells, hustle, and just everything about this iconic scene. I kept seeing shirts with olive tree designs on them hanging at the entrance of various shops. I immediately wanted a shirt for myself, so I bought one for 15 shekels. Fast forward 28 years later, this memory has continued to stay with me and ultimately is what inspired this design. I worked with @karimasart to envision this design that says Spread Love in Arabic calligraphy as an ode to our way of life and our beautiful, ancient olive trees. When she sent me this completed design 4 years ago, I instantly was transported to the old city feeling and this special memory that I have, so I knew this design was it! This is the second Arabic calligraphy design we have released that tells of the Palestinian Hustle way of life. Our Palestinian gazelle design says Always Hustle, this olive tree design says Spread Love, and our Help Others design will be released soon, so stay tuned! After 4 years of building our friendship virtually, Reema and I finally met. 4 years ago, I saw one of her videos, and I could not stop laughing. I then started scrolling through her posts, and my admiration for her grew. Not only is @the_caucasianarab hilarious, but her comedy tells stories while breaking down barriers in Arab culture. I'm sure we've all thought about our own desires to break down some of these cultural barriers but many of us may not have the courage to do so. Reema has the courage, and she speaks for all who are affected negatively by aspects of our traditional culture--particularly the constant judgment we are all too familiar with. Reema and I have spoken so many times throughout the last 4 years, and it has been a true joy getting to know her more. I encourage you to take the time to learn more about Reema's story. She will make you laugh in the process! Reema has been through a lot, and comedy is her therapy and a way to release and tramsute pain. Her comedy is so unique and is such a breath of fresh air. Sometimes her videos are exactly what I need to lift me out of a sad, angry, or depressed state. She gives us the gift of the kind of laughter you can't get enough! Reema, keep hustlin!
