Our first print is here!!! This design, created by Michelle @primroseprintz is inspired by all of our grandparents. When I say all, I don’t mean just Palestinian grandparents but all immigrant grandparents around the world. Our grandparents paved the way for us to have a better life. They were either forcibly displaced due to military occupation or war, corrupt governments, or they voluntarily left an oppressed country. They moved to places all over the world to give us a better life, even though they had to leave their home, their country, and all that they knew.

They moved to cities that treated them like peasants. They bit their tongues when people were racist towards them, paid them crumbs, and treated them horribly. They endured all this for us. They not only paved the way for us to have a better life but also for us to stand up for what we believe in. They gave us the roadmap to freedom. They gave us the tools to do what they couldn’t: stand up for our freedom, speak out about the injustices happening around the world, fight for the countries we came from, help free them, and never forget our ancestral history.

This design is an ode to our grandparents for their strength and love. If they are alive, I know they are still fighting alongside us or sitting at home watching our fight on the TV, cell phones, and tablets. If they have passed (Allah Yerhamhoum), I know they are in heaven wearing their keffiyehs, sitting under the most beautiful olive trees, waving their flags, and singing from the r to the s, Pale stine will be free.” Thank you to all of our great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents for paving the way for us to make a difference.

As I look through the beautiful images @m.z.gaza has sent me, my heart aches. We don’t know if these people captured in moments of joy and resilience are still alive. Are they living in fear and uncertainty? Have they become orphans, or have they lost limbs? We know nothing of their fate, except for one thing: they are not home. They’ve been displaced.

Please, help @m.z.gaza and his family rebuild, so he can return to documenting life in Gaza and all its beauty, as it once was a life rich with deep-rooted culture and history, as seen in these images. (Link in bio)

I chose this song by my dear friend @nourpalestina @refugeechronicles , called Fellaheen, because it’s my mom’s favorite. She’s so proud to be a Fellaha. She says when Palestine is free, she wants to dance on its beaches with her people to this song. #culture #history

One of the reasons I love our Palestinian Hustle community so much is not just the incredible support from all of you, but also the love and support from my parents. I called my Mama to take her out for coffee, planning to surprise her on the way by asking her to model for us even though she saw all the shirts hanging in the back. When I went to pick her up, she was already wearing the same shirt as me. It was such a beautiful and unexpected moment. She truly makes the perfect model! #family #lifestylebrand #mama

Each of these incredible photos was captured by my brother, @m.z.gaza one of the most respected photo journalists in Gaza. These images speak a million words, but a few that resonate deeply with me are strength, pain, love, resilience, laughter, & happiness. there is also hope in their eyes. Looking at these photos, I tear up, not knowing if these beautiful children & adults are still alive. They’ve been displaced, but we don’t know if the children are now orphans or if the parents are childless, or if they’ve lost limbs. For now, I’ll hold onto these images, pray they’re safe, and hope they’re still alive.
Mohammed has worked his whole life to document both the beauty & devastation of Gaza. As he captures families enjoying life at the beach together in one moment, in the next moment, he captures families who were bombed and murdered in cold blood. His life is documenting all things Gaza. the good & the bad. He is sacrificing his life & his family’s life every day to show us the truth about what’s happening. Meet Mohammed Zaanoun: photographer, journalist, survivor. In July, 2006 he was seriously injured while working as a photojournalist for Ma’an news agency in Gaza. He was shot in the face by Israeli snipers. It didn’t stop there though. They continued to shoot him as he writhed on the ground while emergency workers tried to get to him. They shot him in the hand and wrist and again in the chest, before incapacitating him with a bullet in his stomach. As he laid there bleeding out, his colleagues recollect him yelling, “Where is my camera?” He needed to document what was happening. That was his only concern. The odds of him surviving were slim, but due to immense international pressure, he was evacuated from Gaza and given medical care. And, after many long hard months and multiple surgeries, he recovered. Now, over seventeen years later, with scars prominent, he is one of the most globally recognized photographers within the Gaza Strip. During the most recent (and ongoing) bombings on Gaza, Mohammed’s home and a home housing 30 people was completely destroyed. Please donate to Mohammed’s link in our bio and let’s help him rebuild.

Our parents and grandparents are deeply saddened by what’s happening to our people, yet they are incredibly proud of how many people around the world are fighting for our freedom. They never imagined a time when they would see the keffiyeh being worn every day by people everywhere. They never thought they’d turn on the TV to watch the news and see Palestinian flags flying high across the globe not just held by Arabs and Palestinians, but by people from every culture, color, and creed.

Some may be offended by our flag but our flag, however, will fly forever because the Palestinian flag is now the flag of the world. Like Baba always says, “If our flag offends you, look the other way, because it’s going to be in your face for the rest of your life.” If you love Palestine drop a flag in the comments!!!
