6 year Love و Resist Anniversary box

For our six-year anniversary, Karima, Bella, and I chose the theme Love و Resist. Arabs and Palestinians are rich in love, culture, compassion, and history, but our love for life is constantly disrupted by military occupation, corrupt governments, and the atrocities of war. Resistance is not just a choice; it’s a way of life. We chose Love و Resist because this is how we navigate the world. Over the last year, we’ve seen a powerful blend of love and resistance drive positive change, inspiring hope across the globe.

We created this six-year anniversary box as a tribute to everyone's love for one another and their collective strength in resistance. Karima designed a powerful piece using English calligraphy, interwoven with the olive branch pattern from the keffiyeh. Marcus, my college friend and brother, who helped bring Palestinian Hustle to life with our classic logo, skillfully integrated this symbol into our design. We often feature the olive branch pattern because it represents strength, resilience, and perseverance; values that define us.

We also centered the design around the WAW symbol, which carries profound meaning. In Mystical Islamic thought, the Arabic letter Waw symbolizes both God and humanity, reflecting the idea of the Unity of Existence. As a shape and a concept it embodies simplicity, innocence and pure love. Waw connects words and sentences, just as love and divine essence connects us all. Together, through Love and Resist, we strive to create a world where all people can find the simple yet profound connections between each other and grow together and one. This symbol embodies all of that, and more.

Our brand stands for spreading love, helping others, and always hustling. Running an online Palestinian business isn’t easy, even when it’s rooted in love. There’s always an element of resistance whether it’s being shadowbanned, facing suspended functions, or dealing with shop restrictions. That’s why LOVE و Resist resonates so deeply as this year’s anniversary theme. It perfectly encapsulates our journey over the last six years, especially the challenges and triumphs we’ve faced this past year.

By ensuring that no material goes to waste, they showcase the resilience and sustainability deeply rooted in Palestinian culture. Leftover thread and fabric often considered waste are repurposed and distributed among the women artisans within their network.

Each artisan follows a pattern but is free to choose their colors, resulting in unique pieces, each telling its own story. This process not only reduces waste but also empowers Palestinian women, particularly refugees, by providing them with meaningful work that highlights their traditional skills. These coin purses symbolize more than just craftsmanship. They represent heritage, sustainability, and the strength of community.
